Meet some of the senior dogs helped by The Grey Muzzle Organization. We provide grants to support lifesaving, innovative senior dog programs across the country. These are just a few of the senior dogs who got their second chance thanks to the work of our grantees and the generosity of our supporters.
Please consider making a life-changing gift today to help even more at-risk senior dogs get the second chance they so deserve.
To learn more about the organizations we fund, see our Grants Recipients page. The dogs featured here have found their forever homes, but you can find adoptable senior dogs on our Senior Spotlight page.

Corine
How we helped
At 14-years-old, Corine was having a run of hard luck as a stray. That is until she wound up at Foothills Animal Shelter in Colorado. Corine had some evidence of being neglected.

Lil' Kim
How we helped
Lil' Kim, a senior Pomeranian, arrived as a stray at the Maui Humane Society in Hawaii with a mouthful of missing, broken, and loose teeth. Luckily, her tarnished smile didn't deter the team from saving this precious pup.

Daisy
How we helped
Daisy, a 14-year-old chihuahua mix, was found as a stray, rescued, and shared on Facebook. Julie saw the post and agreed to take Daisy to help find her family. She contacted JHS and utilized the Home Stray Hold program. This innovative program allows “finders” to keep stray dogs in their homes and out of shelters while searching for their owners. For senior dogs like Daisy, the program can be a lifesaver.

Chunky Brown
How we helped
Chunky Brown’s family was terribly worried about his swollen front paw and hair loss on his belly, but they were struggling financially and simply couldn’t afford care at their local animal clinic. Thankfully, United Coalition for Animals (UCAN) was there to help.

Strawbe
How we helped
Frances called the Kentucky Humane Society’s Pet Help Line in a panic. She, her spouse and their 11-year-old Chihuahua, Strawbe, had lost their home. The family was homeless. Thanks to a grant from Grey Muzzle, KHS was able to help Frances avoid surrendering Strawbe to animal shelter with temporary boarding at a local pet resort.

Bitz
How we helped
Bitz, a 15-year-old Shih-Tzu, was in dire need of surgery to save his life. Sadly, the veterinarian where he lived in rural Virginia didn’t have the resources to help him. And his mom couldn’t afford a specialty clinic. Thanks to a Grey Muzzle grant, ACAP was there to help.

Slugger
How we helped
Slugger ended up at a local city shelter after being found limping, and clearly in pain from what turned out to be a dislocated hip. A note from the shelter veterinarian said, "The surgery to fix this condition is beyond what we can provide.” Thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, Muttville was able to help.

Holly
How we helped
Sadly, the pandemic took a financial toll on Holly’s family. As much as they loved her, they asked Mostly Mutts to help find her a new home. Holly’s personality quickly made her a favorite among Mostly Mutts’ volunteers. She was in great health, but needed a dental cleaning before she could be ready for adoption.

Spike
How we helped
Spike is a 10-year-old beagle mix who is sweet with every person he meets. His human dad had to move into assisted living, and Spike needed some dental work before he could find a new home. Thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, FFOCAS got Spike the care he needed to make him more comfortable and get him ready to meet to potential adopters.

Stella
How we helped
Underweight and limping, Stella was alone and afraid in an overcrowded shelter that simply lacked the resources to care for her. Shelter staff reached out to PAWS for help, and, thanks to support from Grey Muzzle, PAWS was able to take Stella in. Despite her discomfort, Stella had nothing but wags and kisses for everyone she met!

Ziggy
How we helped
Ziggy had struggled medically and with extreme aggression toward animals. This aggression was so apparent that Ziggy had to be muzzled to walk through PAWS' hallways.
Thanks to the generosity of The Grey Muzzle Organization, there are no more muzzles for Ziggy!

Oscar
How we helped
Oscar is HOME! This very sweet boy came to Top Dog Foundation last summer when his person died. At age 14, he was extremely cherished and losing her was tough. Oscar needed some time to rejuvenate (and lose a bit of weight too).
