Manny
On Christmas Eve, Lionel's Legacy received a very panicked phone call from a family impacted by the Southern California fires. Their dog Manny, an 11-year-old standard poodle, fell ill with some type of respiratory illness. He was coughing and wheezing uncontrollably. They called Lionel's in the hopes to receive help. And of course, through their Keeping Pets Home program, funded by The Grey Muzzle Organization, Lionel's Legacy was able to offer Manny assistance easily.
The family brought Manny into one of Lionel's partnering veterinarians where he received some diagnostics, including X-rays and labwork. He had three unusual spots on his lungs that were concerning. In Southern California, there's been some nasty strains of upper respiratory infection (URI) and, in combination with the fires, everyone has been sick - people and animals. Manny started strong antibiotics and, so far, is doing well. He will likely need some follow up work this spring, just to be sure he has a clean bill of health.
His family was so grateful to Lionel's Legacy, who in turn is grateful for The Grey Muzzle Organization saying, "we couldn't offer this service to public without the support of Grey Muzzle."
