    How Grey Muzzle Helped
    Medical Expense Grant

Abraham came to the Humane Society of Charlotte from Puerto Rico during "Operation Grey Muzzle," a rescue transport coordinated by the Humane Society of the United States. More than 200 dogs, including many seniors, were flown from the island to look for forever homes on the mainland United States.

For more than a decade, “satos”—the Spanish name for Puerto Rican street dogs—have been transported to shelters in the Northeast, where healthy young dogs are in high-demand. This time, the focus was on older dogs who have been long-term residents of the Santuario de Animales San Francisco de Asís.

Thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, the Humane Society of Charlotte was able to accept four senior satos, including Abraham, into their adoption program. This 11-year-old terrier was in pretty good shape for living his entire life on the streets, and only needed a blood panel for seniors and a dental.

Here's to Abraham enjoying his golden years with a family all his own.
