Suncoast Basset Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Florida with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray, abandoned, shelter, and owner-surrendered Basset Hounds, giving each dog a second chance to live as someone’s best friend. Founded in 1997, the all-volunteer organization serves every county in Florida and has rescued over 5,100 Bassets to date. Suncoast Basset Rescue partners with shelters and maintains a strong foster network to ensure each dog receives the care and love they deserve.

    Forever Foster Guardian Program
Since 1997, Suncoast Basset Rescue’s Forever Foster Guardian Program has been a lifeline for senior hounds who need extra love and care. These special dogs face serious medical issues or behavioral challenges that make adoption unlikely—but they’re never forgotten. Instead, they become Forever Fosters, living out their lives in the comfort of a devoted foster home. SBR covers all veterinary expenses for these hounds, ensuring they receive the dignity, compassion, and quality of life they deserve.

A grant from Grey Muzzle helps to fund a Senior Wellness Package for adopters of a Senior Basset to a Senior Person. This will include spay & neuter, vaccinations and taking care of any medical needs they basset may have so that it is ready for adoption.
