When 9-year-old Katie arrived at Gold Ribbon Rescue, she received full dental x-rays and a comprehensive exam. It turned out that Katie was in dire need of critical dental care. The exterior surface of one tooth had sheared off down into the gum line, two other teeth had significant bone loss at the roots, and all of her teeth had tartar accumulation.

Katie was feeling much better after three extractions and a full dental cleaning (enough to flash her beautiful new smile!). The next mission: find this sweet senior girl a forever home.

Gold Ribbon Rescue took Katie on their local news station's Pet of The Week Program in an effort to get her adopted. Shortly after, a nearby family came in to adopt Katie! She's now living the good life - filled with three human brothers, plenty of walks (and rolls) in the grass, and all the love she can stand.

Katie's story is another fantastic example of how your support directly affects the lives of senior dogs who find themselves in the care of one of our grantees. Special programs like the one at Gold Ribbon provide comprehensive dental exams and treatment for senior dogs - helping to ensure they are as healthy as possible on their way to their forever home.
