Executive Director

Lisa Lunghofer, Ph.D., is the Executive Director for The Grey Muzzle Organization. She is also Executive Director of Making Good Work and has 20 years of experience working with public sector and nonprofit clients, helping them to create strategic plans, develop logic models, write winning grant proposals, build successful programs, develop evaluation plans, and track outcomes. She has worked extensively in the areas of animal welfare, the human-animal bond, violence prevention, and child and family well-being.

Jennifer Kachnic, President

Jennifer Kachnic


Jennifer Kachnic is the author of the book Your Dog’s Golden Years – Manual for Senior Dog Care Including Natural Remedies and Complementary Options. She is a regular contributor to a variety of dog blogs, The Denver Dog Examiner and pet magazines including The Bark, Mile High Dog, Natural Awakenings and Animal Wellness. She is a certified canine massage therapist, animal Reiki practitioner, and a certified therapy dog handler with American Humane Association.

Lindsay Nuismer


Lindsay Nuismer is the Treasurer for the Grey Muzzle Organization. She is a Certified Public Accountant and works as a Financial Analyst at Sempra Energy.

Katie Parker, Grants Chair

Katie Parker

Grants Chair

Katie Parker has worked in the animal welfare field for 7 years. She began her career working in animal shelters and has worked as an animal welfare inspector with the Colorado State Veterinarian’s office.

Secretary and Donor Relations Chair

Jessica Rothfuss is the Secretary and Donor Relations Chair for The Grey Muzzle Organization. Prior to this position, she served the organization as Facebook Manager for several years.

Cheryl Nelson

Cheryl Nelson is the most recent addition to The Grey Muzzle Organization’s Board of Directors. Cheryl Nelson lives in La Crosse, Wisconsin where she has worked in mortgage lending for over 20 years. She has previously volunteered with and served on the board of directors of Greyhound Pets of America – Wisconsin as Treasurer. Cheryl’s four footed family includes a retired racing greyhound, Duncan, and two Maine Coon cats.

Michael Iannuzzi

Michael Iannuzzi lives in Morrisville, North Carolina where he works as a Solutions Consultant for a tech company that archives government social media. He has a strong background in business management and entrepreneurship. Michael shares his home (and every pair of shoes) with his Labradoodle named Hinckley.

Denise Fleck

Denise Fleck is an award-winning author, animal care instructor and radio show host who developed the curriculum for her Pet First-Aid & CPCR Classes after training with dozens of schools and organizations, practicing, attending seminars and practicing some more.

Mark Casias

Mark Casias

Mark came to The Grey Muzzle Organization via Mediacurrent for the A11y Accessibility Challenge in 2015 and was so happy with the cause, he joined the Board to help along. He lives in New Mexico along with his dog, Dru. Mark is a Senior Drupal Developer for Mediacurrent and in his spare time, he enjoys playing hockey and tennis.
