Beagle mix Belinda was approximately eight years old when she was brought in to the shelter as a stray. During her initial medical exam, she was found to be in dire health. She had a tumor on her right hind leg, infected ears, dental issues and was later diagnosed with mild congestive heart failure. But Belinda’s luck was about to change—she entered foster care that day as a Monroe County Friends of Animals (MCFA) Second Chance Pal!
Funding from the Grey Muzzle Organization allowed MCFA to fully treat Belinda’s medical issues. She was spayed, had the tumor removed (benign!), and received a dental cleaning and tooth extraction. Her infected ears were treated with antibiotics and she was started on a diuretic to remove fluid from her lungs. With all her issues, Belinda had an extended recovery period and received exceptional care from two wonderful foster families. Happily, Belinda is now fully recovered and has been adopted by a fantastic forever family.
