    How Grey Muzzle Helped
    Keeping Senior Pets in Homes

Sprite and his mom Linda got much-needed support from the Colorado State University Pets Forever program, thanks to a Grey Muzzle grant. At 14, Sprite has been a steadfast friend and partner for Linda, who jokes that they are navigating retirement together. When Pets Forever began providing service, Sprite was ten pounds overweight and struggled with unmanaged thyroid and arthritis issues.

Pets Forever provided the veterinary care Sprite needed including regular senior blood panels, managed prescriptions, joint supplements and a veterinary diet focused on weight management. Additionally, program volunteers began taking Sprite on long, leisurely walks at least three times per week to make sure he got the exercise he needed for weight loss, to keep his joints mobile and to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Some of Sprite’s volunteers have included a wonderful team of young adults with disabilities who have found a bond of love with the always smiling Sprite.
