Mugsy

Mugsy came to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. (RBARI) after being abandoned by his family. Mugsy was not only a staff and volunteer favorite, but a grandpa and friend to so many other RBARI dogs. You couldn’t miss Mugsy if you were at the shelter - his unique hoarse bark, adorable slow-paced walk - those ears, that smile!

Although Mugsy was loved by all, he was constantly overlooked for adoption.  Mugsy’s luck changed when an RBARI staff member fell in love with him and welcomed him into her family. A Grey Muzzle grant helped with Mugsy’s post-adoption medical care and helped him find a family of his own when he needed it most.

Mugsy only lived a few short months with his new family before facing a sudden battle with an aggressive cancer. Funding from Grey Muzzle also helped Mugsy live comfortably with his new family for the time he had left and allowed him to leave this world in his mom’s arms. Without Grey Muzzle and the great work of RBARI, Mugsy would not have found his happy ending.
