Helga

After being found as a stray and bouncing in and out of a local shelter, nine-year-old Helga was transferred to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

When the staff first met her to perform an initial evaluation, Helga was wiggling with excitement in her kennel. Even though she was originally found fending for herself on the street, it seemed that at one point, Helga had someone who loved her. She was housebroken and incredibly friendly.

During the day, Helga would spend time in the PAWS office and would make everyone laugh with her silly demeanor. She enjoyed bouncing around the room after her toys, curling up on blankets after "arranging" them just right, snoring like a hippo during naps, and grumbling to the staff when they didn’t deliver her snacks fast enough.

Helga was in good physical shape, but did have an ear infection and some skin irritation. Thanks to a Grey Muzzle grant, both were both easily cleared up with a course of medications. Though Helga adored every person she met, she wasn't a fan of other animals, so it took her a little longer to find the right home. But, after a weeks-long search, her wish came true: she caught the eye of the Tringali family and went home!

This sweet and silly senior couldn’t have asked for a more loving family, and we couldn’t be happier that they found each other!
