Dudley
Grey Muzzle's grant to OldDog Haven paid for the medical care for six hospice dogs in 2010. Dudley was a very old Golden Retriever who showed up stray at a shelter, with a huge malignant tumor on his chest. He joined a group of other "old fogey" dogs at an OldDog Haven foster home and had a really great time for nearly three weeks. The vet found that the cancer was already present in his lymph nodes so his foster mom simply gave him a lot of love (and hamburgers). One morning he simply did not wake up. We are grateful we could help Dudley in a small way--most of the credit goes to the foster mom who was willing to take on the emotional challenge of helping an old dog enjoy his last few weeks, rather than dying in a shelter. One of our Grey Muzzle values is that every senior dog deserves to live out their golden years, months, weeks or even days in a place of love, security and peace.
