Jennifer is the author of “Your Dog’s Golden Years: A Manual for Senior Dog Care”. She will discuss basic senior dog care, including the benefits of adopting a senior dog, how to tell when your dog is in pain, most common diseases and what can be done to prevent and treat them, end of life decision making and much more.
Jennifer Kachnic is the President of The Grey Muzzle Organization which provides grants to animal rescues and shelters nationwide for senior dog programs. Some of the programs the organization funds are: medical, long-term foster, senior therapy dog, hospice care, seniors for seniors adoptions and also provides orthopedic dog beds to animal shelters.
She is the author of the book Your Dog’s Golden Years – Manual for Senior Dog Care Including Complementary Options. The book is a silver finalist winner of the 2013 IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards which recognizes excellence in edit and design and is the highest national honor an independent publisher can receive. Twenty canine experts from around the country share therapies, treatments and simple techniques for the senior dog that embrace both veterinary and holistic practices.
Jennifer is a Certified Canine Massage Therapist and Certified Animal Reiki Practitioner. Her business, Canine Wellness, LLC in Colorado provides alternative and complementary therapies for injured, post-surgery and senior dogs.
She teaches senior dog care classes at a Denver University and trains service dogs for Canine Companions for Independence. She also is a Certified Therapy Dog handler with American Humane Association and Delta Society.
