Facebook Favorite: Walter Takes The Cake!
Longtime Grey Muzzle grant recipient Old Dog Haven in Lake Stevens, Washington, recently posted this fabulous photo of senior Cocker Spaniel, Walter, celebrating one year in ODH's Final Refuge Program, in which rescued seniors deemed "too fragile to be subjected to another change in living condition, too sick to be rehomed, or with very limited time left with us" live out their golden years in a loving permanent foster home.
ODH Executive Director Judith Piper is Walter's forever foster mom. "Walter came into the shelter very, very old, intact, with a tumor on his jaw, feeble hind end, and damage to his cervical spine. It took devotion on his first foster mom's part to get him past all that, but he's managed to thrive. He's wobbling on now two blown ACL's but insists on tummy rubs and being my constant companion. Every day is a gift and for a Cocker that cake (sent by his first ODH foster mom) was definitely Dreams Come True. His buddies got a bite ... later."
