    How Grey Muzzle Helped
    Medical Expense Grant

Gus and his dad Dave were inseparable for more than seven years. Even when Dave fell gravely ill, Gus was allowed to move into Dave’s room in a hospice home. Gus spent his days comforting Dave, but also visiting other residents, many of whom had lost their pets when moving into hospice.

Tragically, when Dave passed away, Gus was left with few options, none of them good. As a 12-year-old German Shepherd dog, he would be at-risk in a crowded shelter. Luckily, Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue was contacted about Gus and agreed to take him in. Thanks to a medical grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, Thulani had the financial resources to take care of Gus.

Gus was transported ten hours from his hometown to Thulani. There, volunteers bathed and groomed him, exercised and cuddled him, and made sure all his needs were met. He immediately moved into a foster home with four resident dogs and showed his extraordinary house manners and social skills. It didn’t take long for his foster family to “fail” and add Gus to their pack permanently.

Gus has established a wonderful, easy routine in his new home and is said to be the best family member ever. After sadness and loss, Gus is once again enjoying the life he so richly deserves.
