Dharma Rescue for Cats and Dogs

Dharma Rescue for Cats and Dogs rescues dogs and cats, especially those who are elderly and disabled, from high-kill shelters and provides them with the best quality of life. At Dharma Rescue, animals are provided with with shelter, spay/neuter surgery, medical care and rehabilitation. If they need assistance to walk, they are fitted for a specialized wheelchair as part of the D.A.W.G.S. program (Disabled Animals Who Generously Serve), which also certifies them as therapy animals.

C.A.R.E.4Paws

C.A.R.E.4Paws—short for Community Awareness, Responsibility & Education—works to reduce pet overpopulation, keep animals out of shelters and improve quality of life for pets and pet owners in need. The organization was founded in 2009 with the goal to promote animal welfare and alleviate the burden of Santa Barbara County shelters by intervening before animals become homeless.

Diana Basehart Foundation

Diana Basehart Foundation provides financial help for essential and critical veterinary care to people on low-fixed incomes; including seniors, people with disabilities, and veterans who have service animals. They keep people and their beloved pets together, while also minimizing the number of animals being turned over to shelters due to financial struggles.

Peace of Mind Dog Rescue

Peace of Mind Dog Rescue’s mission is to be a resource and advocate for senior dogs and senior people on California’s Central Coast, helping dogs and people from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. They find loving foster and forever homes for dogs whose guardians can no longer care for them and for senior dogs in shelters. They also provide volunteer and financial assistance so seniors can keep their pets with them as long as possible and make pre-arrangements to take in dogs should their guardians become unable to care for them.

Lionel's Legacy

Lionel's Legacy is a 501c3 non-profit San Diego-based senior dog rescue and humane education program for elementary school children inspired by a senior pit mix named Lionel. It is their goal to save and advocate for ONE senior furbaby at a time, and support anyone who is willing to do the same.

Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue Inc.

Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue Group, Inc. is dedicated to rescuing Labrador Retrievers and Labrador mixed breed dogs in Southern California and placing them in loving homes.

Founded in 2007, this all-volunteer group is comprised of experienced men and women who work passionately to save dogs from shelters and help dogs whose families can no longer provide for them.

Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue

Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue, Inc. (TSGSR) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing very old or terminally ill German Shepherd Dogs and mixed breed dogs from life-threatening situations. They accept shelter dogs and owner-surrender dogs from all of California, providing foster homes and medical treatment the dogs may have been lacking. Their efforts are critically needed as many shelters do not have the resources to provide in-depth care for large senior dogs, most of whom face uncertain futures as a result.
