Taffy
Taffy, a 10-12-year-old female sheltie/chow mix, was surrendered to a rural animal control in Illinois when her 81-year-old owner could no longer take care of her. Stressed out by living in the shelter environment, Taffy was rescued by Chicagoland’s Young at Heart, and was diagnosed with severe stressed-induced colitis. A regimen of diet and medication got the inflammation under control, and Taffy was off to her foster home for some old-fashioned TLC. Within a couple of weeks, she was feeling better and for the first time, began wagging her tail! Soon she was trotting through the yard, eagerly going on walks and shadowing her foster mom. We're delighted to report Taffy not only made a full recovery, but has been adopted and is being spoiled rotten by a loving couple. A Grey Muzzle grant to Young at Heart covered all of Taffy's medical bills, and the funds couldn’t have been applied to a sweeter, more fantastic dog, now enjoying her Happily Ever After!
