Snowball
Snowball is a ten-year-old Shih Tzu mix who was found wandering outside alone and brought into Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) with an infected eye. CACC was not able to give him the medical care he needed, so they turned to our grantee Heartland Animal Shelter about taking in the senior pup.
Heartland agreed to take Snowball in as part of their senior program (supported by their Grey Muzzle grant), and when he arrived, they saw that he was in need of urgent care! His eye was badly injured and protruding from its socket. He was in an immense amount of pain, was quiet and would barely even move. Snowball underwent immediate surgery to remove his eye as well as a rectal mass found during his diagnostic tests.
The very next morning, Snowball was acting like a completely different dog! He was walking around, cheerfully barking at everyone and definitely feeling much better. He went into a foster home to recover and his foster parent fell in love with him.
Snowball has since recovered beautifully and was adopted by his foster parent. Your gifts help dogs like Snowball get the care they desperately need, when they need it.
