After living life on the streets as a stray, Fancy Nancy, an 11-year-old chihuahua, is quite comfortable on her own. She hasn’t always enjoyed humans…they are big and scary or small and noisy. But the care of her current foster family is starting to change her mind a bit. She was rescued by Friends of Homeless Animals in Northern Virginia and was quickly put into a foster home where she is getting accustomed to living in a home.
Fancy Nancy likes to keep to herself. She is very comfortable hanging out in her little bed enjoying some solitude. She is still learning to enjoy human touch but is coming around. The perfect home for this tiny girl is one that is quiet, preferably with no kids or other dogs. However, her current foster says she is starting to warm up to the other dogs in the house and the children. Fancy Nancy is very independent and doesn’t ask for much. However, she seems to enjoy the comforts of a warm home, good meals and a comfy place to rest. Much nicer than on the streets.
Before fully clearing her for adoption, FOHA with the support of Grey Muzzle grant funding will provide her with much needed dental care. She also qualifies for FOHA’s Senior Care Plan in which the adoption fees are waived and a $1500 reimbursement is available to cover qualifying medical expenses if she and her new family need it. Fancy Nancy would love to share a home with someone who can appreciate her needs.
