We'd met Diva before she even came to HHHS during her younger rambunctious days - Diva's owner had her most of her life and they were quite a pair! Diva's owner told us she doesn't like cats or fireworks and is typically very active with other dogs. Unfortunately, life circumstances happened and Diva found her way admitted to us at Helping Hands Humane Society in January of 2023. We discovered she was heartworm-positive and she went to a foster home to undergo treatment, where she spent the majority of the spring season fighting those pesky and painful heartworms. She was successfully able to beat this difficult and painful disease and was adopted shortly after! However, her new home kindly let us know that since undergoing treatment, Diva's patience had declined. They felt that their home was just too active for her and she was becoming stressed and reactive. She just wants to relax and she doesn't have a lot of tolerance for exuberant young dogs or active children anymore. Her grappling days have morphed into poetry-reading days. That's okay, Diva, we understand that sometimes a nice rope toy in a foam bed by the fireplace is just what the doctor ordered! We consider her a "gentle daisy". She's never met a stranger and will happily meet any human she encounters, and she's quite the leaner and face kisser. She's a staff and volunteer favorite around here for her natural affiliation towards getting pets! She can co-exist with other dogs as long as they all have their bubble and don't mind slow easy walks around the yard together. After such a trying year for Diva, we are eager for this sweet senior girl to find a loving home for her to spend her twilight years in! She's earned it. We can do out-of-state adoptions at HHHS, but we do need advance notice to schedule appropriate documentation.
