Napoleon was surrendered to the City of Columbia [South Carolina] animal shelter at eight-years-old. This adorable Pomeranian found himself homeless because his family could no longer afford to care for him. Sadly, Napoleon is dealing with Congestive Heart Failure and if left untreated, he would have experienced a slow, uncomfortable death.

His family thought they were doing the right thing for him in letting him go, but the city shelter was not equipped to treat him either. Thankfully, employees at the city shelter reached out to Pawmetto Lifeline to see if they could take over Napoleon's care, which would allow him to live out his golden years comfortable and happy. They agreed to treat him and make him available for adoption.

Now, in order to keep Napoleon as comfortable and healthy as possible for the rest of his life, he has quite the medication regiment. Napoleon takes four medications and needs quarterly blood work and x-rays to monitor his condition. He also needed to be brought up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. And he has an impacted anal gland, which requires the need to puncture the gland and drain it every few weeks. So far, he handles his anal gland treatment like a champ. Can you believe everything this poor little guy is dealing with?

The total cost to treat Napoleon initially was $300 and his monthly maintenance is $125. Thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, Pawmetto Lifeline was easily able to care for this sweet fluff ball. In fact, Pawmetto Lifeline is dedicated to providing his needed medical service as long as he maintains a happy and active life for a senior in his condition.
