Farley
Thirteen-year-old Farley was surrendered to a rural Ohio shelter. He was wet, cold and in poor shape with severe hair loss, arthritis and dental disease. Although his story was not known, it was suspected he was used by a backyard breeder.
Our grantee Stop the Suffering rescued him and placed him with a very experienced foster parent who loves the Sheltie breed. Poor Farley needed good nutrition and supplements to help him with restoration of his gorgeous coat and much needed weight gain. Farley was also in great need of dental care including extractions. Thanks to a Grey Muzzle grant, he got all the care he had gone without.
Farley adapted quite well in his foster home. He got along beautifully with the dogs and cats in the home. He showed his spry nature, loving to be outside with his foster family, but needed a home without many steps due to his arthritis. He also needed some help with potty training, but finally learned to alert his foster mom when he had to go out. You can teach an old dog new tricks!
Farley's hair began to grow back and within a month, he looked and acted like he felt well. It did not take long for this lovely boy to find a home with a breed savvy owner! He is thriving in his forever home.
