Archie
Originally transferred to The Humane Society of Indianapolis from a municipal shelter in Central Indiana, eight-year-old Archie was missing one eye, had some skin and allergy issues, hair loss and red patches on his back. He was a little bit of a mess, but thankfully, IndyHumane received a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, so he was fixed up right away.
Even though Archie was ready for a home health wise, he had some special criteria for his new home. Archie wanted a home without other dogs or young kids, and that combined with his senior status meant he was with IndyHumane for some time before he found the perfect home.
During his stay with IndyHumane, Archie showed the staff and volunteers that he loves to play (especially with squeaky and soft toys and small tennis balls) and is very affectionate and social, even leaning in and rubbing into you like a cat would (don't tell anyone that!) He also loves following his nose and going on daily walks, as he has a lot of energy. At one point, Archie took a vacation to one of IndyHumane's foster families to have a break from the stress of the shelter and to help increase his chances of successful adoption.
Not long after St. Patrick's Day, Archie the one-eyed, squeaky toy-loving, senior dog, finally found his forever home. As you can see in the picture, he has a whole family of support behind him.
