Shane's story
Shane was suffering from a severe leg infection that left him in constant pain. He became fearful and defensive as a result of his hurting. He was placed on the Code Red list at his local Animal Care and Control facility, meaning the overwhelmed shelter couldn’t provide the extensive medical care he needed, and without rescue, Shane wouldn’t make it.
That’s when Trust Rescue stepped in.
Funding from a Grey Muzzle grant fully covered Shane’s critical lifesaving leg amputation, pain management, and recovery. Once the pain was gone, the real Shane emerged. Suddenly, there was a goofy boy learning stairs on three legs, barking excitedly for dinner, taking stroller rides with his foster siblings, and enjoying a world full of sunshine.
Trust Rescue says watching Shane discover all the little joys of being a dog has been one of the greatest rewards of their work. Shane has since been adopted and is living a pain-free life full of safety and love. He’s mastered life on three legs and, we think you’ll agree, he wears them well.
