Understanding the Personalities of Aging Dogs with Traditional Chinese Medicine's 5 Element Theory

The Five Element Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a fun and helpful tool for understanding your old dog's personality, needs, and wants. It will also cue you into specific behaviors and possible maladies that your elder dog may display. This technique provides a fresh view of how to really see your elder dog and how to create harmony and an adaptive forever home environment for their senior years. As this ancient healing approach was originally created for humans and adapted for animals, you may also see shades of your own “elements” as we navigate our way through this fun and intriguing topic. These perspectives will help us understand how both the elder dog and we human caregivers deal with change, relationships, and aging.
