    Location

Utah Friends of Basset Hounds (UFBH) is a foster-based, breed-specific rescue in Salt Lake City, Utah, providing veterinary care, food, shelter, and support to basset hounds. UFBH places bassets into foster and permanent homes with consideration to personality, behavior, and special needs. They accept hounds of all ages and medical conditions and provide forever foster care to seniors or other hounds when needed. Forever foster care provides medical and dental care and any other necessary items to ensure the hound ages in a loving and stress-free environment until the end of life. UFBH collaborates with local and out-of-state rescues, shelters, and veterinary services to increase adoption rates and quality of life for basset hounds.

Thanks to Grey Muzzle funding, UFBH will provide essential services to senior basset hounds. These services include forever foster care, routine medical and dental treatments, and collaboration with out-of-state partners to relocate seniors from overcrowded areas to Utah and neighboring states. By doing so, they increase adoption rates and promote foster care. Additionally, Grey Muzzle funding will empower UFBH to explore preventive measures, ensuring continued care for senior hounds in their original homes and reducing owner surrenders. Ali, featured here, exemplifies the positive impact of these efforts. Despite having multiple medical needs when rescued, Ali is now thriving.
