    Melissa's Second Chances
    Funded in 2023

    Location

Melissa's Second Chances is a foster-based rescue founded in 2019 to provide second chances to needy animals. In 2022 the organization accepted over 1,400 dogs, cats, and small mammals. Melissa's Second Chances primarily aims to rescue local strays, facilitate owner surrenders, and help rehome dogs released by breeders. From the beginning, the rescue has been firmly committed to caring for senior animals like George Jetson, a senior Labrador. Melissa's Second Chances also collaborates with local and regional outreach teams to help more animals in need.

Support from Grey Muzzle will enable Melissa's Second Chances to enhance the well-being of senior dogs and facilitate their adoption into permanent homes. Funds will cover various essential services, including wellness visits, spaying/neutering, dental treatments, and other routine care necessary for senior dogs like Kale to thrive. Kale had never received veterinary care when a breeder released him. In addition to addressing basic needs, the funding will enable MSC to offer advanced care to senior dogs requiring specialized treatment and increase the number of senior dogs the rescue organization can support.
