Lost Our HomeFunded 2021, 2024
Lost Our Home Pet Rescue (LOH) was founded in 2008 in Arizona as a grassroots response to help the thousands of pets in need due to the economic downturn. LOH offers comprehensive solutions to permanent and temporary displacement, pet abandonment, and hunger through four primary programs: Rescue and Adoption, a Pet Food Bank, the Tempe First Responder Program, and the Temporary Program, one of the country's first and longest-running programs of its kind, offering 120 days of temporary pet care. With an emphasis on preserving the human-animal bond, LOH takes a proactive approach to keeping pets out of overcrowded shelters, especially during times of crisis (e.g., domestic violence, eviction, homelessness, illness). Their goal is to help people with pets and pets without people.
Last year, Lost Our Home Pet Rescue provided love, care, and support to 157 senior dogs until they were reunited with their pet parents or found new homes. A Grey Muzzle grant will enable LOH to continue its mission by covering the medical and dental expenses of 38 senior dogs like Rocko. Funds will go towards medical exams, vaccinations, and dental procedures, which are often costly.
