The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill organization that has been serving the animals and people of the Miami Valley since 1902. To put that into perspective, we’ve been committed to the animals in our community before the Wright Brothers invented flight! In 2023, HSGD saved and placed 2,453 animals, spayed or neutered 7,972 animals, examined or treated 4,187 animals in our new animal hospital, and investigated 424 cases of animal cruelty or neglect.

Support from Grey Muzzle will allow the Humane Society of Greater Dayton to create a new program to save more senior dogs' lives! HSGD currently partners with the Meals on Wheels Program for Montgomery County to provide pet food to those receiving food delivery services for themselves and have pets living in their homes as well. This grant allows us to deepen our partnership with this organization and will match senior adults who are seeking companionship from a pet and one of our senior dogs at the shelter. This grant funding will cover all but $20 of the entire adoption fees and will include spay/neuter, microchip, wellness exams, and vaccines for each animal as well. We look forward to sharing the success stories of how this grant has impacted the lives of both senior dogs and their new owners!
