The Gray Muzzle ProjectFunded in 2025
The Gray Muzzle Project is a nonprofit dog rescue based in Chimacum, Washington, devoted to providing forever homes and hospice care for special needs senior dogs on the Olympic Peninsula. We believe every dog deserves to grow old in peace, comfort, and love, and we honour each one with compassionate, individualized care. Through local partnerships, community support, and heartfelt dedication, we offer senior dogs a soft place to land and stay.
At The Gray Muzzle Project, we focus on rescuing senior dogs from shelters where they may not thrive and welcoming them into forever homes filled with warmth and dignity. By collaborating with local rescue groups and choosing locally sourced supplies, we’re committed to building a compassionate community that celebrates the human-animal bond. Every dog we take in receives not just care, but love, peace, and the chance to truly feel at home for the rest of their days.
Thanks to this Grey Muzzle grant, the Gray Muzzle Project will launch their Forever Home Program, and identify 10 senior dogs within the shelter system that are struggling with chronic medical conditions and are poor candidates for adoption. The senior dogs will be evaluated and transported to the Gray Muzzle Project Sanctuary, where they will spend the rest of their lives in comfort and peace. Thanks to Grey Muzzle, Gray Muzzle will provide these special senior dogs humane hospice/palliative care and love, they will not only age with the dignity that they deserve but they will also free up space and resources within the shelters/rescues for other dogs that can be reintegrated into families of their own. It is a win for all involved.
