Chesapeake Humane SocietyFunded in 2024
Founded in 1972, Chesapeake Humane Society serves the community with a low-cost veterinary clinic, an adoption program, and a crisis boarding program. Their mission is to break down barriers and build connections for pets and people through supportive services, innovative programs, collaborative partnerships, and thoughtful leadership.
A Grey Muzzle grant will allow Chesapeake Humane to assist more senior dogs like Gracie. They will help local municipal shelters by transferring in more senior dogs with medical needs, providing them with necessary care, and finding them homes. They will also help keep people and pets together during times of crisis. The crisis boarding program will provide temporary, low-to-no-cost boarding and medical care to keep senior dogs with their families while experiencing housing crises, domestic violence, and medical emergencies.
