Support from Grey Muzzle will allow CARE™ Humane Society (CARE) to provide essential health care for senior dogs and prepare them for adoption. Funding will also enable CARE to assist owners in keeping their senior pets at home where they belong. Dogs like Sorrel, who arrived recently as a stray and needs treatment for heartworm disease, will benefit from this generous award.

CARE is an open-admission shelter serving the cities of Auburn and Opelika, Alabama, since 1974. CARE receives an average of 3,000 animals annually and has proudly achieved and maintained a no-kill status since 2018. CARE’s mission is to advance humane treatment and responsible ownership of companion animals through community education, animal sheltering and adoption, and alleviation of animal suffering. Their vision is a future in which animals are valued, pet overpopulation is eliminated, and every adoptable companion animal has a loving and responsible home.
