Rosa is a sweet, eight-year-old collie with impeccable manners, both inside the house and out. She is calm and very shy with strangers at first, but once she gets to know you, she is very loving and affectionate. Her initial shyness comes from her partial blindness. She has limited vision in her right eye, and completely blind in her left eye. However, we are amazed at how quickly she has adapted to her inside and outside surroundings. She prefers to be on a leash at first, so she can follow you and get to know her new environment. She will need a couple days to learn the layout of her new home & yard, and once she does, she becomes more confident and is easily able to navigate her surroundings on her own.

Rosa heels very well on a loose leash, no pulling. She loves to go on walks everywhere, especially new places with new smells. She is housebroken and loves to ride in the car. She gets in the car on her own with a little "boost" assist. She will occasionally bark at horses or alert you to people at a stop sign, but is mostly quiet. Rosa knows "stay" and comes when called. We are working on "sit." She has the run of the house and will walk in and out of a crate. Not sure if she is fully crate trained but we will try to assess that.

Currently she sleeps through the night just fine on her dog bed and has no problem being left alone in the house for a couple hours during the day. Her one nemesis is the thunderstorm. The
sound of thunder makes her very anxious. (She paces and searches for a safe place like a closet or bathroom). She may be able to be helped with some calming medication from the vet, we are
    looking into this.

At a weight of 75 pounds, the vet says she also would benefit from losing 5-10 lbs., so we will work on this. She had two other collie siblings in her previous household, but has not had a chance to meet new friends yet (canine or feline). She is a calm, sweet & loving companion, who would be perfect for someone who is retired or works from home. She loves to "hang out" with her people.
